Curry is one of the world's most ubiquitous comfort foods, but also one of its most misunderstood. In "The Curry Shop," a new weekly series premiering October 8 on First We Feast, Indian-Canadian rapper Jasleen Powar—a.k.a. Horsepowar—examines how South Asia's most famous culinary export changes shape from Japan to Jamaica to Thailand to the Philippines. Joined by celebrity guests like Aasif Mandvi, Sean Paul, Chi Ching Ching, and Rina Sawayama, Horsepowar explores the connections between hip-hop, spice, and global cuisine while sampling some of NYC's finest bowls of curry. Dropping every Monday at 11 a.m. EST, “The Curry Shop" is one woman's journey to better understand her own culture through the lens of food.
First We Feast videos offer an iconoclastic view into the culinary world, taking you behind-the-scenes with some of the country's best chefs and finding the unexpected places where food and pop culture intersect.
