In this video we learn how to make the Roulé à La Confiture (more commonly known as Swiss roll or jam roll). The cake consists of a layer of homemade sponge which is spread with any jam of your choice. It is then rolled, sliced and served.
In this recipe we use raspberry jam but you can choose any spread you like - so get creative! Once the cake is sliced, the beautiful red layer of jam is revealed. It's a delicious and very addictive treat. Easy and quick to make, it's the perfect recipe to encourage the kids to help you in the kitchen.
2 eggs (separate the egg white and egg yolks in two small bowls)
80 grams white granulated sugar
40 grams of starch (corn or potato)
1 table spoon of flour (to sprinkle on the baking paper)
A few table spoons of a jam of your choice
Icing sugar to sprinkle over the jam roll
Two medium size bowls
An electric mixer
A small size baking tray
